Boggart: In third year, Neville came face to face with a boggart but it was not the first time. When he was six, he had been visiting his Great Aunt Enid and in a dusty cupboard upstairs, he'd encountered a boggart in the shape of his grandmother at her most terrifying. Unable to do anything but squeak, he'd fled the bedroom and never returned and not looked his Gran in the eye for days after.
Things changed drastically upon entering Hogwarts for his Gran was no longer the scariest person he had ever met. Professor Snape became the person and thing that frightened him most in the world. Luckily, this time when facing the boggart, Professor Lupin had taught him a way to deal with it and with the spell of 'Riddikulus', the boggart was quelled. Snape wore a long green dress, a fox-fur scarf, a tall hat with a stuffed vulture on top carrying a red handbag. It helped Neville with not just boggarts, but Snape himself. It's difficult to be scared of someone so much when you can imagine them in such a ridiculous get-up.
Since third year, Neville's boggart has surely changed...
Personality: Neville has always been quite a shy and quiet boy, stemming from his clumsiness and uncanny ability to humiliate himself in public places. Over the years though, he has battled with his clumsiness and found confidence. Although not extremely confident, he is now much more able to approach people and begin conversations, but with people he is already friends with. New people, or people he hasn't got an established friendship with, he finds it hard to strike up the courage. But he does have courage. Not in the way most of the Gryffindor students have, almost showy and arrogant, but a quiet courage that comes out when only necessary. Apart from this, he's a quiet boy, preferring to tend to the plant he got from his Great Uncle Algie or read up on Herbology, or even hunt down his permanently missing toad, Trevor. Someone that has been a big help in raising his confidence is Ginny Weasley, who stuck up for him and prevented him from sinking into self-pity quite a few times. He did have a small crush on her for a while since his fourth year, but seems to have got over it (especially seeing that she did like Harry anyway). Luna Lovegood is a very good friend of his, but some of the things she does and says alarms him slightly. Neville's the type of person who'd like to finish school quietly, get a job as a gardener somewhere quiet, find a wife and have a child, and live his life out in the country - somewhere quiet. But this is a dream of his that he doesn't share with anyone, because it's quite unlikely. The war and the self-appointed mission of his, he thinks, will surely kill him, and he's accepted that. If he gets to avenge his parents, Neville believes that he will finally have done something worthwhile in his life, and will have lived up to the memory of his brilliant parents. His grandmother constantly reminds him of this, and perhaps this contributes to Neville's quiet nature. He doesn't have much self-confidence at all. needs to be revised!
Wizardly Sun Sign
Leo Gryffindor | July 23 - August 22
The Lion. Fixed, fire, yang - planetary ruler: the Sun. Keywords: "I WILL"
Leo is the fifth sign of the zodiac and rules the back, the spine, and the heart. Positive traits include creativity, charisma, generosity, warmth, enthusiasm, a natural talent for leadership, and a great deal of inner power; negative traits are haughtiness, snobbery, an expectation that one is the centre of attention and should be waited on by everyone else, profligacy, lack of realism, dominance that can lead to bullying, and a refusal to change one's mind even in the face of solid facts.
This is a natural sign for Gryffindors, not least because the griffin is part lion. Gryffindors born under this sign are outgoing, friendly, affectionate, and likeable. They make friends easily and are crushed when their advances are rejected. Their romantic, chivalrous nature makes them perfect examples of all that is best in their House. However, they are also bossy, domineering, spendthrift, and overly dramatic (ever heard the phrase "drama queen?") They have sharp tempers and need to learn to direct their anger toward only needful causes. The natural creativity and flamboyance of Leo makes Gryffindors born under this sign good at most everything they attempt, provided they apply themselves to learning magic rather than using magic to hog the limelight.
